ABOUT

Call me Sugarplum

I’m Call me Sugarplum, an Indigenous Australian musician and illustrator who is on her journey, slowly building a world that feels like mine. Music has always been the clearest way I know how to process what I’m feeling—especially the things that are hard to say out loud or don’t fully make sense until much later.

Most of what I write leans into softness—emotionally and sonically. I’m drawn to sounds that feel a bit dreamy or raw around the edges, with space to sit in whatever feeling the song holds. I tend to write about complicated inner shifts: the slow kind of heartbreak, boundary-setting, memory, unlearning unhelpful patterns, longing and navigating the world while unlearning generational trauma. Sometimes it’s hard to explain the themes until after the song is done, but I think a lot of it is about learning to trust myself again.

My hope is that my music can be something gentle and grounding for people who move through the world still learning to articulate their feelings like myself.
